WAXING FAQ'S.
Which wax do you use?
We use Perron Rigot. Perron Rigot is a French manufactory of depilatory waxes used by elite waxers all over the world.
With 30 years of innovation and more than 20 patents behind the, Perron Rigot is constantly developing new formulas that meet the evolving needs of therapists and their clients.
What makes Perron different is the use of elastomers within their wax, something that is patented especially to them. This means that it keeps the wax ultra flexible. It will not stick to the skin, instead ‘shrink wrapping’ around each hair, ensuring that it is fully removed. This means a more comfortable and long lasting wax. Also we are able to remove much shorter hairs than previously, as short as 4mm!
How long do my hairs have to be?
You will need to allow your hairs to grow for around 3 to 4 weeks in order to get the best wax possible. Sure we may be able to remove the hairs after 2 weeks, but you will notice regrowth very quickly as only around 60% of hairs will be on the surface of the skin, leading to disappointment and wasted money. Allowing your hairs to grow means we are able catch more hairs, giving you a great smooth feeling that will last much longer.

How long will it last?
Everyone is different, but as a general rule most people see minimal re-growth over the first 3 weeks then a noticeable growth after that. Most people get waxed every 4 to 6 weeks. It’s also worth remembering that regular waxing will slow the rate of hair growth.

I’m a real wimp! Will it hurt!
Most people find that leg and underarm waxing isn’t what you would call painful, just a little uncomfortable. It really is only for moments, with no lingering soreness after treatment. As for bikini waxing, the more you wish to remove, go the longer it will take. However, we use renowned wax brand Perron Rigot, which is famed for it’s minimal discomfort, and as we are highly experienced in all areas of waxing you can rest assured you are in safe hands! REMEMBER: Shaved hair is stronger hair, do yourself a favor and step away from the razor!

Tell me more about Brazilian/Hollywood waxing...
There’s a lot of confusion surrounding Hollywood and Brazilian waxing. To set the record straight, the Brazilian is when you are left with a ‘landing strip’ which can be as wide or narrow as you wish, and a Hollywood is all hair removed. At Oasis there are no half measures, we carry out our waxing the way it is meant to be done, that means removing all hair (apart from the ‘strip’ if Brazilian) including from the labia, perineum and anus. This is a true Brazilian, any salon not covering these areas is basically giving you an extended bikini line!
The treatment itself will involve a quick chat and consultation prior to the wax, then you will left to undress your bottom half (and yes....for Brazilian & Hollywood this does involve taking your knickers off!) and getting yourself comfortable on the couch. Wipes will be provided for you to freshen up before the treatment begins. Disposable g-strings can be provided if necessary, however, they do make things a lot more tricky and time consuming, going against our aim of getting it all over and done with as quickly and fuss free as possible! Remember! You genuinely do not have ANYTHING we haven't seen before!
The whole process is designed to be as efficient as possible and keep any discomfort to a minimum. The therapist will instruct you in where to position your leg or where to place your hand in order to make sure the procedure is a comfortable as possible. As a general rule, clients DO NOT end up on all fours! The positioning tends to be much more discreet! Once your wax is done, you should leave the salon with no soreness, heat or nasty stickiness left, although a little pinkness on the skin is not uncommon. The specialist wax we use means that your skin is actually conditioned rather that traumatised through the treatment. Follow the aftercare advise you will be given and by the next morning you will be as good as new!
Post Wax Advice:
1. Moisturize the waxed area regularly. Ingrowing hairs are often caused by dry of flaky skin which do not allow the new hairs to push through.
2. Exfoliate regularly, again to allow new growth through and gently encourage hairs to the surface. The exfoliator needs to be grainy enough to have an effect, but not so harsh it irritates your skin. For non inimate areas dry body brushing can work well.
3. Avoid coming to a waxing appointment in very tight clothing, skinny jeans, tights etc can irritate.
4. Soothing lotions and gels, especially those containing witch hazel, aloe or tea tree may be used to help treat ingrowing hairs, but not until 24 hours after treatment.
and...
NO fake tans, heat treatments (hot baths, saunas, sunbeds etc) or swimming for 24 hours. Try to avoid excercise or anything that will cause friction across the waxed area for 24 hours. Try to not touch the area with unwashed hands and avoid appliying deodrant, anything perfumed or make up to the waxed area for 24 hours.
